Prof. Dr. Fatma Deniz

Principal Investigator

Room: MAR 5.039
Phone: +49 (0)30/314-70459
Office hours: on appointment

Fatma Deniz is the Principal Investigator. Fatma routinely disregards disciplinary boundaries and follows her curiosity. This makes her work lie at the intersection between data science, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence. She designs and promotes approaches for scientific reproducibility and co-edited a book on reproducibility published here. Here is an online version of the book.

She also worked on improving online user authentication applications using image-based authentication procedures combined with knowledge gained from cognitive neuroscience (Check MooneyAuth) and created a database of two-tone Mooney images. E-mail Fatma if you would like to use those for your research. Code is available on GitHub.

Fatma is a passionate coder, baker, and she loves feeling the resonance when playing the cello which makes her simply happy.

Anuja Negi

PhD student

Room: MAR 5.061
Office hours: on appointment

Anuja Negi is curious about how the brain represents data. Her current research focuses on language comprehension and learning, bridging neuroscience and AI—using one to better understand and improve the other.

Beyond research, she is passionate about science communication and outreach. She is currently organizing SoapBox Science Berlin and the German Neuroscience Olympiad. When not behind a screen, she enjoys painting, playing basketball, and attempting to learn a musical instrument (with varying degrees of success!).

Peter Neumann

PhD student

Room: MAR 5.040

Peter is curious about the uniquely human abilities that enable us to create art or solve complex problems. His research currently focuses on how language is represented in the brain and the cognitive mechanisms that make it possible.

Outside the lab, he enjoys making music with others.
